Location

The Residual Stress Summit 2005 will be held at the University of British Columbia (UBC). UBC is the major university of western Canada.

The campus lies on approximately 450 hectares of woodland, adjacent to downtown Vancouver. The university's setting, with views of the surrounding ocean and snow-capped mountains, is one of the most spectacular in the world. Notable attractions on campus include the world famous Museum of Anthropology, the Nitobe Japanese Gardens, and the 18-hole University Golf Club. Pacific Spirit Park, which surrounds the university campus, has hiking and biking trails, and several beaches are within easy reach.

With the Pacific ocean on one side and towering coastal mountains on the other, the city of Vancouver is renowned for its beauty and moderate climate. It is a sophisticated international city, home of spectacular gardens, fine dining, museums, shopping, ocean-side public markets and walkways, and professional sports teams.
