Getting to Vancouver

Vancouver has a major international airport served by several leading airlines. Convenient direct flights are available from major cities throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. Please check with your travel agent for details.

Entry and Passport Information

Visitors coming into Canada are required to carry a valid passport. If you are a citizen of a country other than the United States, please check with Canada Citizenship and Immigration in advance of travel to complete any needed visa requirements. We will gladly provide a letter to participants who need one to support their visa application.

Getting to UBC

Taxis and limousines are available outside the arrivals terminal at Vancouver International Airport. Journey time to UBC is about 20 minutes.

All major car rental agencies have offices at Vancouver International Airport. The map gives details of how to reach UBC. Limited free parking is available for attendees staying at the UBC accommodations. Please ask for a parking permit when you arrive.

Vancouver Climate

During August, daytime temperatures average 21 °C. Occasional rain is possible. For evenings, a light sweater or jacket may be needed.

Insurance

Medical costs in Canada are very high. Therefore, attendees are strongly encouraged to arrange suitable medical and other insurance before starting their travels. In case of emergency, medical treatment is available at the University Hospital located on campus.
