LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Location:
Los Alamos is located in North Central New Mexico, and is the home of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The town is built on top of three mesas at a height of 7350ft, and commands fine views of the surrounding mountain landscape. In December, the weather is typically sunny but cool (40-60°F days, 20-40°F nights), so bring sunglasses and warm clothes.
How to get to Los Alamos:
The recommended way to reach Los Alamos is to fly to Albuquerque, NM, (SouthWest, Continental, Delta, America West, American, etc). Then rent a car for a two-hour drive on major roads from Albuquerque to Los Alamos. See map for driving instructions. If you are interested in sharing a rental car, please email Lisa Biehl lbiehl@HYTECINC.com your contact information, and tentative arrival/departure times, and she will send you a list of like-minded attendees. The road between Albuquerque and Los Alamos goes through Santa Fe, which might provide alternative accommodations for those that are bringing family with them. Note that most Los Alamos restaurants close by 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, so late arrivals should consider eating in Santa Fe or Albuquerque.
